Join the Bryanston Dojo for specialized martial arts lessons in the form of Koryu.
Koryu is a 600-year-old Japanese sword martial art, focusing on kata (set sequences with a partner) using wooden swords, staves and halberds; and iaijutsu (learning how to draw and manoeuvre a sword).
Koryu Johannesburg, is situated in Bryanston, Sandton, where members can expect to learn the first forms/kata for iaijutsu and sword kata. Practicing Katori Shinto-ryu enhances coordination and improves reaction.
What's the Deal?
- 2 Month Koryu Membership for One – R99 (valued at R300)
What will be covered in the 2 months:
- Membership fee
- 2-3 practices per week (4-6 hours of training a week) during practice times at the Bryanston Dojo
Need to Know:
- Koryu isn't a sport and doesn't have belts to measure progression but students can expect to learn the first forms/kata for iaijutsu and sword kata. This is dependent on an individuals attendance and the safe handling of weapons.
- Age Restriction: membership not valid for persons younger than the age of 18.
